Projects in Motion: Fall Highlights from the Field

Detroit Zoo: Treemendous Walking Structure

We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Detroit Zoo on a truly unique guest experience: the new Treemendous Walking Structure. Crafted from sustainably sourced Black Locust trees and White Pine planks, this elevated walkway is designed to immerse guests in the feeling of walking through the trees.

Featuring 11 interconnected platforms and bridges, the structure rises up to 11 feet above ground level, providing a gently thrilling perspective of the natural surroundings. Construction began in May, and we’re currently in the detailing and erection phase. Completion of the structure is expected in September, with full turnover set for May of next year.

This immersive attraction is a shining example of design meeting nature, and our team’s craftsmanship is on full display.

Joe Louis Arena Parking Structure

Restoration work is actively underway at the Joe Louis Arena (JLA) Parking Garage. Our goal is a full-scale renovation that will accommodate over 3,000 vehicles upon completion. The first milestone focuses on lower-level renovations to reopen 600 key spaces for access, paving the way for upper deck restoration.

The renovation includes:

  • Precast panel replacement
  • Extensive joint replacements
  • Concrete and structural repairs
  • Sitework and drainage improvements

With every step, we’re reinforcing the safety, utility, and longevity of this iconic downtown Detroit structure, ensuring it’s ready to serve generations to come.
