Roncelli Joins with IBEW Detroit to Deploy Invinity Battery at ZNE Center

On December 12, Roncelli attended the ground breaking ceremony on a project that marks a significant step towards transforming Detroit’s energy landscape. Hired by Local 58 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) , Roncelli will be acting as the Construction Manager for the 8,000 square foot building addition creating one of the largest Zero Net Energy Buildings in the Mid-West. This facility will be added to the already existing union hall located in Corktown Detroit. The addition will serve as a powerhouse for change, housing four Invinity VS3 vanadium flow batteries.

A critical piece in the puzzle for the Zero Net Energy Center, The Invinity batteries will play a crucial role in storing and dispatching on-demand power generated by solar panels on the roof and solar arrays in the parking lot.

The heavily attended ceremony was held in Detroit and included Mayor Duggan, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, various City Council members, Project Architect Sy Design, MEP Engineer KF Engineering and Civil Engineer George Jerome.  Our trade partners for the project- Motor City Electric, Conti Mechanical and BASS were also in attendance to show their support and enthusiasm for the project.
