42,000 SF Building Area
Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace is located in the Bloomfield Plaza Shopping Center at the southwest corner of Telegraph and Maple Road in Bloomfield Township, Mich. Roncelli, Inc. worked closely with the Nino Salvaggio organization as the contractor to construct Nino’s fourth location in Metro Detroit.
Roncelli renovated the former Kroger store at Bloomfield Plaza Shopping Center, transforming it into an upscale fruit and produce market for Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace. The store features an extensive produce department, premier meats, an artesian bakery, floral department, café, expanded gourmet-to-go and kosher selections.
The 42,000-square-foot renovation includes underground and overhead MEP systems, a complete store refrigeration system, walk-in coolers and freezers, upright and horizontal display coolers, densified and polished concrete floors, cabinetry, furniture and fixtures along with custom sales shelving. Roncelli oversaw the kitchen installation of pizza and rack ovens, make-up air units and hoods. Finally, a unique lighting system was mounted and hung to complete the modern look of the store. The basement construction consisted of new offices, conference and break rooms. Exterior improvements included an elaborate structural steel canopy entrance finished with metal deck roofing and a thin brick façade. A glass storefront was built to highlight the rear entrance of the building while the receiving area contains a mesh steel net to house ivy to grow and cover a truck dock.
Roncelli completed the project over a short five-month construction schedule that included upgrades to the existing electrical, HVAC, plumbing and fire project systems. Nino Salvaggio of Bloomfield Township opened to the public December 28, 2018.
