This new 44 bed Oncology/Hospice unit occupies the entire 44,000 SF of the 5th floor West Bed Tower at Beaumont’s Troy Campus. Special attention was given to the fourth floor areas below the new hospice suites, with regards to planning and scheduling all work in these active areas with hospital management and fourth floor departmental staff. The goal was to eliminate disruptions to patient care and comfort.Continual management of Beaumont’s Interim Life Safety Plan and Epidemiology Control Plan ensure that patient risk was minimized. All utility work, shut downs and change overs were scheduled at times that presented the least possible interruption to hospital operations. All work was completed within a five month duration employing a schedule that managed three simultaneously executed phases of construction.
