Summary

Roncelli was selected to build a new upscale restaurant atop of the GM Renaissance Center’s Hotel tower. The new “Highlands” Restaurant and Events Space is a unique, premiere dining destination in the City of Detroit.

This Design-Build project involved transforming the space (formerly The Coach Insignia Restaurant) to the newest restaurant in the GM RenCen. The Highlands Detroit Restaurant is located along the Detroit River at the top 3 floors of the GM Renaissance Center. The 32,064 SF design-build restaurant scope of work included minor finish upgrades and new ceiling work at Level 3 main elevator lobby, alterations to the 71st and 72nd Floors of the center tower (Marriot Hotel) in their entirety with added floor infill at the 72nd floor.

The project area included new dining, banquet, bar, lounge, bathrooms and food preparation areas on both the 71st and 72nd Floors. In addition, new floor expansion at level 73 provided to accommodate added new HVAC equipment and ductwork. The project work scope also included renovations in the Level “A” Prep Kitchen, and Third Floor Elevator Lobby. Work scope included renovation of the above areas to support the new restaurant, lounge, and banquet facilities including kitchen, and support spaces relative to the restaurant renovation work.  The new Highlands Detroit Restaurant opened November 25, 2019.
